In 2016, production began on the new Justice League film. It was supposed to be an incredible culmination of the past DCEU films.
But after the mild success of “Man of Steel” and the failure of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, especially compared to it’s Marvel counter part, DC’s studios knew they needed to change things up.
Captain America: Civil War was very bright and colorful, but still managed to balance it with darker elements. But Batman v Superman was very dark with little comedic or bright elements. This can even be seen with things as simple as the lighting:
While some were fans of the more dramatic, dark and gritty take, it most movie watchers disappointed in general.
DC knew something HAD to change.
So they brought in Avengers director Joss Whedon to assist with the making of the Justice League film.
While kinda a meme at this point, Joss Whedon was a popular director at the time, credited for the massive success of the first “Avengers” Film and it’s somewhat successful sequel.
So Joss Whedon was making changes to Zack Snyder’s Work.
And in my honest opinion, I think this would have been a great film.
Zack Snyder is a great, talented director, and for his dark and gritty film to be shortened (it was gonna be 4 hours) and injected with comedy would have probably made a great film.
But due to the loss of a close family member, Zach Snyder had to step away.
Leaving Joss Whedon alone to direct the film.
Whedon crumbled and fell to the studio mandates and we were left with an incomplete film.
While incomplete, it still isn’t horrible though…
The film features a number of iconic characters from the DC Comics universe 1, including Batman (played by Ben Affleck), Superman (played by Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (played by Gal Gadot), The Flash (played by Ezra Miller), Cyborg (played by Ray Fisher), and Aquaman (played by Jason Momoa).
One of the key themes in the film is the importance of teamwork and unity. The members of the Justice League are all powerful in their own right, but it is only by working together that they can defeat the film’s main villain, Steppenwolf (played by Ciarán Hinds). Each character brings their own unique skills and perspectives to the team, and it is only by leveraging these strengths that they are able to succeed.
Batman is one of the central characters in the film, and his role as a leader and strategist is emphasized. He is portrayed as a more experienced hero who has seen the dangers of not working together, and he is keenly aware of the need to bring the team together. By the end of the film, he has learned to trust his fellow heroes and to rely on their abilities.
Superman also plays a significant role in the film, but he is absent for much of the runtime. He is resurrected by the rest of the Justice League in one of the film’s most memorable scenes, and his return is a key turning point in the final battle against Steppenwolf. Superman’s character arc in the film is about rediscovering his love for humanity and his place as a hero.
Wonder Woman continues to be a strong and capable character in the film, as she was in her solo film, and she serves as a moral compass for the other heroes. She is also one of the few characters who is able to connect with Cyborg, and their interactions help to show the importance of empathy and understanding.
The Flash is portrayed as a more comedic character, providing some much-needed levity in the film’s darker moments. He is also one of the most powerful heroes in the film, and his ability to move at superhuman speeds plays a crucial role in several action scenes.
Like moving a Russian family out of the danger zone.
I’m not kidding.
I wish I was.
In the Snyder Cut, he pushes himself, traveling at super speed to reverse time and stop everyone from dying.
And in this movie bro just saves a Russian family by pushing a truck.
WHAT ARE THEY EVEN DOING THERE?

But Cyborg was done REALLY DIRTY.
In the film he’s just this grumpy dude for legit no reason.
No backstory or anything.
He’s just mad at his dad for making him a Cyborg, but we don’t really know why.
Bro he saved your life! Why are you mad?
And he apparently just gets new powers every day, but we don’t rlly know what he does other than fly and shoot lazers.
And he pretty much has no redeeming qualities. He seems like a pretty cool guy to hang out with towards the end, when he opens up.
But why is he opening up? IDEK.
It just HAPPENS.
Ok man.
After watching the Snyder Cut, I’m even more disappointed at how much they completely BUTCHERED his entire character, cutting out pretty much all of his scenes.
The comedy in the film was decent though…
And no, I’m not gonna talk about Henry Cavil’s upper lip, go search it up to read someone else complaining about it.
